When all the ascensions were done, young Alister Ratcliff stood atop the pro mens’ podium in the fourth-annual Tour of the Catskills road bike race, held this weekend on some of the most grueling and gorgeous roads in Greene County.
The race dipped briefly into Ulster County, on Saturday’s second stage, as Ratcliff and everyone else had to contend with Devils’ Kitchen in Platte Clove in Hunter, a steep climb that is well known on the circuit, according to Ratcliff, a rising star in cycling.
