Construction continues on the large washout of Route 23 near Prattsville. This damage was caused by Hurricane Irene which caused the Batavia Kill and the nearby Schoharie Creek to flood.
The photos below show the ongoing work even in a nor’easter that brought as much as 6 inches of snow to the Catskills. Just two days later many parts of the Northeast received snowfall totaling twice as much. Reports of over 3 million people lost power. New Jersey called a state of emergency.
It is rumored that this section of Route 23 which connects Prattsville to Windham and to the New York State Thruway- Exit 21 will be be completed by December 2… “The lines will be painted by December 2.”
This is a massive amount of work and it is being done even in a nor’easter.

This series of photographs shows the damage to Route 30 near Blenheim and North Blenheim caused by Hurricane Irene. (This post will be updated)

The photo below showcases Creamery Falls. This is a roadside waterfall found along Route 30. In the past I have taken several nice photographs of this particular waterfall. However those photos were taken in warmer temperatures when I was able to comfortable walk in the creek. This photo was taken from the road.
